"LAND AS SPIRIT - New Mexico North and South 1993 - 2003."
September 14 • October 27, 2013

There is a palpable, vibratory energy in the New Mexico landscape that I have not experienced in quite the same way in any other place where I have lived or traveled to.  In the south at the Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge on the Rio Grande River and in the north in the Pecos Wilderness of mountains and valleys bisected by the Pecos River, it feels as if all of Nature is in constant movement expressing its joy at being alive.  Each location has its own identity and beauty. It is that energy, that spirit and their contrasting manifestations that I have given expression to in the Bosque and Tierra series of paintings.

Aspects of the New Mexico landscape will continue to inspire my work, however both the Bosque and Tierra series of landscape paintings
are a complete and finished series....NoŽl Hudson  2013

In Celebration of the Month of Love,
the gallery is proud to present the paintings of Jia Apple. Over the past 20 years, Jia has had a broad reach across the art spectrum-providing private art lessons and producing a wide variety of two-dimensional works in mediums including, acrylic, oil, watercolor and graphite. She has been commissioned by ONU for its' pen and ink architectural renderings as well as a 5 ft by 8 ft oil depicting The Trumpet Shall Sound from Handel's Messiah, currently on display at the university's Centennial Chapel. Most recently, her work has grown very large Ė literally. She is painting murals in Truth or Consequences, NM, where her new goal is to paint the town!
